Youth ages 8-12, meet us at the museum and join educators to tour the Made of Memory exhibit, in which you will learn about five women artists who explore concepts of memory as it pertains to generational and cultural experience, immigration, and migration. Participate in a fun collage art activity after the exhibition tour in the Museum's MakerSpace.

“Something wicked this way comes” to NUMU this Halloween season! Celebrate with us by making spooky origami. Through the art of origami, paper changes into new shapes, familiar and frightening! You can make a bat, a cat, or a pumpkin!

Art always starts somewhere, a line, a shape, a figure, or landscape. Starting Point Sketches in NUMU’s MakerSpace will have visitors creating new drawings from simple shapes, over and over again! Choose a paper with a shape, sketch over it on parchment paper, and see what a difference it makes.

LGS Recreation and New Museum Los Gatos (NUMU) are partnering to bring you a fun day filled with arts, crafts, and immersive activities inspired by National Diversity Day. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to celebrate your family’s diversity through art and history activities led by community partners from Los Gatos and the wider Bay Area. Day-of registration will be accepted at the door as space permits. All children must be accompanied by a registered adult.
Organized in collaboration with the Los Gatos Library, join NUMU educators as they walk us through artist Marie Cameron’s show, “Critical Masses, A Very Low Tide,” which presents views of human impact on our delicate ecosystem. After the gallery viewing, we will create artworks of our own in the Museum’s Makerspace based on the theme of protecting our oceans and our planet.
NUMU will be facilitating an art therapy inspired activity in partnership with CASSY at this event. Come find our booth!
Held in partnership between SASCC (Saratoga Area Senior Coordinating Council) and CASSY (Counseling and Support Services for Youth), the SASCC Health Fair 2022 intends to raise awareness around the parallels in mental health experienced across generations, de-stigmatize mental health, and create opportunities for healing after one of the most challenging periods in history.
Through workshops, on-site counseling, resource tables, and Age-Friendly activities, this event will offer a space where people can gain tools to support their mental health, feel seen and heard, have fun, and leave feeling renewed and hopeful for the future.
In addition to our focus on mental health, the SASCC Health Fair 2022 will also host traditional health screenings for blood pressure, hearing, vision, etc.
NUMU is excited to partner with the Vivace Youth Chorus to bring music to the museum and Los Gatos families. This Family Musical Workshop will be led by Katherine Carmona Arbelaz and feature fun and engaging folk songs with rhythm and movement activities.
Get to know both the New Museum of Los Gatos and the Los Gatos Library in this fun event. We will discover the art of college together by admiring picture book illustrations that employ the use of collage, by touring the Museum's art exhibitions, and finally, making our own collage art in the Museum's lounge.
