Art always starts somewhere, a line, a shape, a figure, or landscape. Starting Point Sketches in NUMU’s MakerSpace will have visitors creating new drawings from simple shapes, over and over again! Choose a paper with a shape, sketch over it on parchment paper, and see what a difference it makes.
Visit our MakerSpace during museum open hours, Thurs-Sun, May 23-26, to play with simple shapes and transform them into something new! Artists of all levels are welcome to join and materials will be provided, free with admission.
This activity draws on themes from NUMU’s current exhibition, ArtNow 2024: In Transition. How can you creatively change what you’re given?
What is a starting point? Starting points are the shapes or figures that artists use in the sketching process to help create a larger work.
