An introduction to urban sketching and visual journaling designed for beginners and those with some experience alike: We will explore drawing and painting in a sketchbook, a wonderful way to record life and the world around you. With the set of skills gained from this workshop, students will have a strong basis on which to build a journaling or urban sketching practice. We will also touch upon a host of topics and techniques that go into working in sketchbooks: drawing everyday objects and people, learning perspective, understanding value and the basics of color theory and mixing watercolors. Students will apply these skills outdoors and add in urban sketching: drawing architecture and combining the skills with strategies for working outdoors.
