Robert K. Semans | Painting Autumn Florals Virtual Workshop

Join renowned local master Robert K. Semans for a two-day oil virtual painting workshop via Zoom. Each student will have their own unique floral arrangement to draw inspiration from created by local florist Kat from Kat’s Flower Affair. Each student will be required to pick up their unique living arrangement prior to the workshop on Friday September 25th. Follow Bob's guidance through the process of composing and painting a beautiful still life full of spring colors. Beginners to advanced students are welcome.

About the Artist
As an artist Semans has drawn inspiration over the years from several painters including the old masters Vermeer, Rembrandt, and Velasquez and more recent master such as Sargent, George Innes, Mancini, Aaron Shikler, Walter Vaes and others.

Each has enriched the artist’s understanding of one or another facet of painting.  From Vermeer he developed an appreciation of composition and color harmony; from Velasquez he learned the importance of subduing excessive detail in favor of the general effect; from Sargent an appreciation of bold brushwork and reducing  forms to their essential elements; from Mancini, Vaes, and Shikler the beauty of impasto, lively color, expressive brushwork and those elements we usually identify as "painterly."

Today the artist strives to express those values in his work while remaining open to contemporary ideas and trends.
