In this portfolio review you will have 15 minutes to meet one-on-one with a CCA admission counselor and talk about your work. You are welcome to bring a laptop or tablet to share your portfolio digitally or bring sketchbooks or pieces that you can carry with you easily. Your portfolio should include your best and most recent work, but it can also include works in progress, sketchbooks, and first drafts. We recommend that you collect 5–15 pieces that show the range of your work. We are interested to learn about your process, methods, and thinking. Before the event, practice explaining how you develop your ideas, articulating where you want to go with those ideas, and sharing how you arrive at a completed work.
We encourage you to ask questions during the portfolio review and take this opportunity to learn about the process of applying to an art and design. Some sample questions are:
What is the artwork that you’re most excited about?
What is a portfolio and what should it look like?
Questions about how to focus on specific mediums such as film or writing.
Questions about individual works and what can be improved.
What should I include in my portfolio?
Questions about careers and college.
What to bring:
Bring artwork you want to showcase, either physically or digitally.
Bring a device such as a tablet or laptop to show your digital work, don’t just bring a phone.
Bring 10-15 artworks.
*If you’re early on in your journey you can bring 5-6 artworks.
Sketchbooks or other relevant supporting materials.
