Want feedback on your ArtNow 2023 submission? The Teen Council invites you to drop in and share your ideas, ask questions, and get inspired! Whether you just want to talk through early ideas, ask questions about the ArtNow Theme or Toolkit, need help with navigating the submission form, share a draft or sketch of your artwork, workshop an artist statement, or brainstorm a title, this is a great opportunity to get direct feedback and support from other young artists and NUMU’s Education Curator. The Teen Council suggests that you come prepared to share photos of your work in progress or your physical art piece, and any personal questions.
If you feel nervous or shy, you are welcome to join the call anonymously with your camera off, but we encourage you to share your ideas verbally, and be ready to share your screen if necessary. No matter where you’re at in your submission process, we hope this program helps you feel confident in your next steps and understanding the theme better.

New Museum Los Gatos (NUMU) is excited to participate in the Mosaic Festival on Saturday, August 27, 2022! NUMU and the ArtNow Teen Council invite you to participate in an art activity inspired by the ArtNow 2023 theme, Unarmed Truth, and Mosaic’s themes of belonging, healing and harmony. Choose a personal or universal truth, or take inspiration from one of our highlighted quotes, and create a small work of art. Feel free to draw, write, and collage as your creativity desires. Share a secret. State a fact. Shine a light on what needs to be said. Connecting with your truth is an act of healing, and sharing your art fosters a sense of belonging.
Share your creation with us on social media @newmuseumlosgatos!

Celebrate our mosaic of American cultures at the second annual Mosaic Festival in Silicon Valley at the Mexican Heritage Plaza, San Jose. This "destination" event is actually a journey that welcomes each of us to honor our unique history while also co-creating a vision of our shared future of belonging, healing, and harmony. Presented by Mosaic America, in partnership with the School of Arts & Culture.
Mosaic is a nonprofit organization that strengthens communities, cultivates belonging, and catalyzes inclusion through inter-cultural and co-created art. Our team of artists uses inspiration from their cultures and art forms to collaborate on unique performances and expressions that highlight the common threads of our shared American story.
Calling all teens! For the first time ever, New Museum Los Gatos (NUMU) is launching an ArtNow Teen Council composed of 1-3 high school interns who will help elevate the ArtNow program to be more widely accessible and more relevant to teenagers living across Santa Clara County. Through establishing the ArtNow Teen Council, NUMU hopes to build a stronger partnership with student artists so that they aren’t just the recipients of the ArtNow program – but the architects.
As we enter the 12th year of the ArtNow program, the Teen Council will be tasked with determining the artistic theme for ArtNow 2023 under the mentorship of NUMU’s Education Curator. The Education Curator will convene with the Teen Council to share the inner workings of NUMU, and hear their thoughts in a safe, structured space.
Those who are selected to be a part of this year’s ArtNow Teen Council will meet as a group beginning in July 2022 - September 2022, with the potential for extension into the school year. The group will meet at least 3 times all together at NUMU for 2 hour shifts, with some take-home tasks, and room for more meetings depending on the availability of participants. Teens who are selected will be financially compensated for their involvement in the Teen Council. Accepted interns will receive a confirmation email to confirm their participation after July 20, 2022.
Where: NUMU, Los Gatos Civic Center, 106 E. Main Street, CA, 95030
