Come celebrate the Summer of Love, some more!  You’ll have SEW much fun sipping wine and  embroidering groovy denim patches to embellish your bell bottoms, jean jackets and more!  This project is simple and fun.  All materials are included and no sewing experience is required.

Karen Harlan and Elizabeth Greer are local makers who have been teaching arts and crafts in the area for years. Inspired by the 50th anniversary of San Francisco's Summer Of Love, they have designed a quick fun project in keeping with the theme of that era.

Get your groove-y on and celebrate the Summer of Love at NUMU! Using black light paint, wax crayons, and black velvet you can recreate iconic poster art from the '60s, while sipping on Chardonnay and Rosé from Los Gatos' own Left Bend Winery. Can you dig it?

Sip and stitch and get into the art and craft of bookmaking. Design books that fit your style! With a bit of folding and an easy pamphlet stitch you’ll make a Do-Si-Do, a Gatefold and a Wrapped Cover book. And, you’ll have your choice of cover papers!  

Ginger Burrell is an artist and teacher, and an exhibiting artist in NUMU's current art exhibit, Power of the Page: Artists' Books as Agents of Change. Ginger has been teaching book arts for ten years and still loves the “aha” moment when students discover their own book making talents.

Sip on Zin(fandel), and make a Zine with visiting artist, Victoria May. Learn the trick to folding a single piece of paper into a small booklet, and illustrate it with your words, ideas, and artwork.

Paper, drawing and writing tools provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own collected ephemera, photos, drawings and/or collage materials to add to their own zines. Victoria May teaches Book Arts and Fiber Arts at Cabrillo College in Aptos.
