We invite visitors back into our MakerSpace to learn the art method of frottage in leaf rubbings. Through this activity, you will explore nature’s textures and patterns using crayons and paper. Artists use this technique to add natural, visual texture to their works.

Hike the Los Gatos Creek Trail with NUMU and Santa Clara County Parks, then join us at the museum for a tour of our exhibition, The Hiking Club: A Vocabulary of Yearning. Meet us at NUMU at 9:30, or at the trailhead, located at the Highway 17 overpass, at 10.

Offered each season, this free-of-cost program features expert guest speakers and weekly “homework” activities that include neighborhood walks, stargazing, and nature journaling. Park interpreters facilitate the sessions and cultivate a community of homegrown naturalists.
Participants receive a certificate for completing the course, and a custom pin for completing a service project that benefits their family, neighborhood, local plants, or wildlife. County Parks staff feel inspired and grateful for the passion and curiosity that participants have contributed to each course.
