Frank and George: Our Local Queer Pioneers

Join Richard D. Mohr, ceramics historian and author of several books on LGBTQ+ social and political issues, for part two of a lecture series on local artists Frank Ingerson and George Dennison, who are the subjects of his recent book The Splendid Disarray of Beauty: The Boys, the Tiles, the Joy of Cathedral Oaks - A Study in the Arts and Crafts Community. In this presentation, Mohr will discuss the social importance and impact of Ingerson and Dennison’s well-known romantic relationship, and how The Boys contributed to queer history as arguably America’s first transparently common-law-married gay couple.

Frank and George: A Love Story in Arts & Crafts

Join us and Richard D. Mohr, ceramics historian, author, and Professor Emeritus at the University of Illinois - Urbana, for part one of a lecture series on local artists Frank Ingerson and George Dennison. The Boys, as they were affectionately known, are the subjects of his recently published book The Splendid Disarray of Beauty: The Boys, the Tiles, the Joy of Cathedral Oaks - A Study in the Arts and Crafts Community. In this presentation, Mohr will discuss Ingerson and Dennison’s prolific art careers and their many contributions to the Arts & Crafts movement, as well as the California art scene at large.

LGS Recreation and New Museum Los Gatos (NUMU) are partnering to bring you a fun day filled with arts, crafts, and immersive activities inspired by National Diversity Day. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to celebrate your family’s diversity through art and history activities led by community partners from Los Gatos and the wider Bay Area. Day-of registration will be accepted at the door as space permits. All children must be accompanied by a registered adult.

Organized in collaboration with the Los Gatos Library, join NUMU educators as they walk us through artist Marie Cameron’s show, “Critical Masses, A Very Low Tide,” which presents views of human impact on our delicate ecosystem. After the gallery viewing, we will create artworks of our own in the Museum’s Makerspace based on the theme of protecting our oceans and our planet.
