Clayprinting is a new and innovative approach to monotype printmaking. The technique trades traditional plates and ink for potter's clay and pure pigments. The process is water based, non-toxic, and only hand tools are required. Martha Castillo will guide viewers thru the steps from blank surface to finished print.

Using a small table press, Jami Taback will create vibrant dreamy prints using templates cut from plastic and rolled with non toxic water based inks. A history of printmaking and information about the press will be part of the conversation.

Susan Leone Howe | Mokuhanga Woodcut Printmaking

Susan Leone Howe will provide a demonstration of Mokuhanga woodcut printmaking,  roughly translated as “wood impression picture”. This printing tradition flourished in Japan in the 18th and 19th centuries. The wood printing blocks are usually hand carved and traditional inks are water-based. Susan will run one impression through the press to display in the demo gallery.
