Artifact Spotlight

The first step in this ambitious process is identifying and making records of all of the objects NUMU currently holds in its collections. NUMU has been a collecting museum since its inception in 1965. Like most museums, it collects objects and materials of cultural and historical importance, and preserves, researches and presents them to the public for the purpose of education and enjoyment.

NUMU’s Permanent Collection consists of objects, archives, and artwork tied to the history of Los Gatos and the surrounding communities. On this page we’ll be sharing some of the treasures from our collection. In addition, we’ll be asking for some help from the community to identify objects when we don’t have all the history or or provenance (a record of ownership; the place of origin or earliest known history of something).
